I wish my friends could have seen me coerce these ladies into letting me photograph their babies. "Excuse me ladies, I have a site called Soft Underbelly of San Jose" ... startled expressions of confusion and suspicion. I believe the words "soft underbelly" made them a tad nervous. They came around nicely and I took the shot. Babies do not respond well to "cheese" or other suggestions to look at the photographer and smile. They smiled prior to me taking this shot. They smiled as I walked away.

Hundred of babies are strolled, pushed, papoosed, wagoned, and otherwise transported along Lincoln Street. Mostly by men I might note - just an observation. One baby fell off the back of a wagon as I was sipping coffee at Boolanger - scaring the hell out of the father. Scared the hell out of me too, but the tot seemed to be ok. What terror being a parent.

The title of this page refers to Lincoln Street, which is incorrect - it should be Lincoln Avenue. Willow Glen renegade Greg Howe informs me that the "street" reference is guaranteed to enrage any self-respecting Willowglennian. The prospect of this did not seem to upset Greg very much, who, I believe, lives on the "wrong" side of Willow Glen.
