The Plaza, looking north down Market Street. Prominent buildings are St. Joseph's Cathedral and the U.S. Post Office. On April 18, 1906, the Post Office lost its tower to the earthquake - it would not be replaced. A statue/water-fountain of San Francisco prohibitionist dentist Dr. Cogswell provided refreshment for both man and horse. |
