Description

In celebration of the birth of the Beat Generation in San Francisco, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins has partnered with the Beat Museum to bring legendary poets to riff alongside local jazz musicians for a weekly series at the Top of the Mark. Guests are invited to enjoy specialty cocktails and bites alongside a poetry and jazz session every Tuesday night during March and April, beginning March 3.

History lovers are invited to jazz up their evenings with Top of the Mark’s Poetry & Jazz Series through April 28, 2015. In honor of the 60th anniversary of poet Allen Ginsberg first public reading of his poem “Howl,” one of the great works of American literature and a piece that is thought to be the birth of the Beat Generation, this series celebrates the renaissance of San Francisco in the 1950s and 60s. Steeped in history, the iconic Top of the Mark was named by the legendary Herb Caen who also coined the term ‘beatnik’ making it the perfect venue for the series. With custom-created cocktails and bites, comfortable stage seating, fantastic views, and the sounds of iconic poets riffing to jazz beats, guests will enjoy a unique experience at the legendary Top of the Mark lounge.
