Description
In SSTC's production of Moliere's last play, baroque meets glam rock. Argan, an aging rocker, has everything - wealth, two lovely daughters, a beautiful second wife... and a bevy of imagined illnesses. Engaging several doctors to prescribe medications and treatments for his supposed afflictions, Argan resents the mounting cost of his therapy, constantly looking for a way to save money. He lands on a scheme to marry his oldest daughter to a medical student in a plan to obtain free doctor's care. Unfortunately, his daughter, Angelique, is already in love with the handsome Cleante. Meanwhile, Argan's second wife, Beline, resentful of his daughters, is looking for a way to cut them out of the will clearing her own path to her husband's fortune. Add into this a contingent of money grubbing doctors and a clever maid and you have the makings of one of the finest comedies of the 17th century. Adapted and directed by Shawn Andrei.Tickets are $20 general admission, $16 for students, seniors, and members.
