About
Under the agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the United States of America, the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco was established on October 31st 1997. Subsequent to the establishment of the Embassy of Vietnam in Washington D.C., the opening of the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco marked a new milestone in the development of the U.S. - Vietnam relations.
The Consulate General was established mainly to promote the multi-faceted ties between Vietnam and the West Coast of the United States, of which the economic and trade links are of high priority; to assist Vietnamese residing in the United States to strengthen their relationships with their homeland; and to provide consular services to Americans and Vietnamese residing in the United States.
