Worker Exposures: the Unintended Consequence of
Nuclear Weapons Development

Scott Yundt is the Staff Attorney at Tri-Valley CAREs, a Livermore based non-profit that monitors the activities of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and the U.S. nuclear weapons complex more broadly. He manages all of the group's community "right to know" and environmental monitoring activities, both of which often result in litigation. He also facilitates a support group for local nuclear weapons workers made ill by on the job exposures and heads up the group's activities to achieve conversion of Livermore Lab from nuclear weapons to a "green lab" focused on civilian science initiatives.

In this the 70th anniversary of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Scott will describe his work highlighting LLNL worker exposure issues and as time permits, talk about the nuclear weapons budget and LLNL’s possible involvement in what weapons scientists are calling “the second nuclear age”.
