About
When you first come to Summit Chiropractic and Wellness, this is what you can expect:
Health History: The first step for a new chiropractic patient is filling out a complete health history form. Old injuries, chronic problems, and the patient's present symptoms are recorded on the form for study. Dr. Pacheco and staff are always available for a complete and thorough discussion with the patient.
Consultation: After reviewing the health history, Dr. Pacheco meets with the patient to discuss their needs and how they can best be treated through chiropractic care. Prospective patients are interviewed by Dr. Pacheco so he can determine how the physical strains have affected the patient's health by precipitating spinal misalignments called subluxations and subsequent impingement of the central nervous system.
Examination: The examination will consist of orthopedic, neurological and specific chiropractic tests. Dr. Pacheco will check the joints and how they move, the nerves, and the spine. Checking the spinal range of motion is a regular part of the physical exam.
A chiropractic physical may include X-rays of the spine if the examination or history reveals the possibility of an underlying structural problem. These X-rays show the spine in its natural weight-bearing state and help the doctor identify the causes of the individual patient's condition.
Explanation: After Dr. Pacheco has studied the health history and X-rays, he meets again with the patient to explain the results of the exam and the recommended course of chiropractic care. During this time, he will also address any questions the patient has.
At Summit Chiropractic and Wellness, we are interested in eliminating the pain as well as correcting the condition so that it no longer interferes with the patient's life.
Treatment and Adjustment: The adjustment or correction of a subluxation is the means of care provided by the chiropractor. The first adjustment begins to restore the vertebra to its natural position. The soft tissues, the muscles and ligaments, are stretched when the vertebra is in an unnatural position. So these tissues must have time to "rehabilitate." Normally, proper muscle tone, ligament position, and the shape of the vertebrae will keep the vertebrae in place.
Every patient will have a unique treatment plan designed to address their specific needs.
