On Friday, November 7th, Strangelove's got you covered. It's COVERS NIGHT, and we're playing ALL COVERS, ALL NIGHT LONG!Join DJs Tomas Diablo (Strangelove) and Joe Radio (Death Guild) in the back room, and DJs Daniel Skellington (Dark Shadows) and Fact.50 (Kinky Salon) in the front room, for a night of drinking, dancing, and "Hey I love this song - who does this version?".
PLUS: A LIVE ALL-COVER SET from goth rock act DOMINION, playing favorites from artists like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, the Cure, Joy Division, and Siousxie and the Banshees!
Sometimes a cover song infuses a track with new life by updating it to a different genre (like Snake River Conspiracy's version of "Love Song", or God Module's cover of Ratt's "Round and Round"). Sometimes a cover song exposes an artist's influences (like the Sisters of Mercy covering the Rolling Stones, or Nine Inch Nails covering Joy Division). Sometimes covering another artist is a way to get discovered (like Frente's "Bizarre Love Triangle" or Tori Amos' take on "Smells Like Teen Spirit"). And sometimes a cover becomes so iconic that people forget that there was ever a previous version (like Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" and Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"). Whatever the reason, cover songs are just a lot of fun.
Strangelove is every first Friday at the CAT CLUB (Folsom and 8th), with different themes and guests every month.
