Description
The 30th Annual Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival will celebrate spring in downtown Menlo Park on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This highly anticipated free family event, sponsored by the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce, will take place outdoors along tree-lined Santa Cruz Avenue off El Camino Real. The 30th Annual Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival will feature an exciting array of original works by 90 artists including jewelry, photography, ceramics, painting, sculptures and much more. All of the artists will be on hand to visit with patrons, while some will be practicing their craft during the show.
Among this year’s artists is jeweler Barbara Ramos of San Francisco who has been making jewelry for over 25 years. Barbara’s studies in painting, photography and general design have helped her create unique collage jewelry. Using a combination of fabric painting, collage and her own techniques, she creates earrings, brooches and necklaces. Barbara embellishes her creations with vintage beads, metal, shell and stone. “Creating my jewelry gives me great pleasure and it’s satisfying to have my customers enjoy them year after year,” said Barbara.
Festivalgoers can admire the works of Donny Hahn of South San Francisco who will be displaying a series of abstract oil paintings in a variety of sizes, ranging from 15x20 inches to 45x55 inches. “With over 25 years of painting landscapes and seascapes, my paintings reveal an intimate perspective into the unconscious of my heart and soul,” says Donny.
Painter Carina Mascarelli was born in France and raised in West Africa. She came to the United States in 1988, with a sense of opportunity to discover her potential. Carina is moved by the desire to create texture and luminescence in her paintings, feeling a challenge to put on canvas what has impressed her in nature. She works to create a visual feel of the elements and describes her style as Contemporary Realism. Carina’s paintings come to life, flowing and reflecting the very essence of creation for her.
Additional artists participating in the 30th Annual Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival include Mernie Buchanan of Benicia with her paintings that feature unique interpretations of classics in acrylics and watercolors; Geri Comstock of San Jose showcasing her glass jewelry; and custom cartoonist Lenore Masterson of Marina, California who will show a variety of subjects including circus clowns, bears, frogs and hot-air balloons.
