“Soiree 2013” Invites San Franciscans to the Newly-Restored Maritime Museum for a Black-Tie Evening of Dining, Dancing, Casino Games and a Silent Auction

San Francisco Architectural Heritage, the only citywide, membership-based preservation nonprofit dedicated to advocacy and education, is thrilled to announce its 41st annual “Soirée 2013” being held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 6 to 11 p.m. The annual spring event, which raises funds for the organization’s ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance San Francisco’s unique architectural and cultural identity, brings together the community for a dazzling evening of fine dining, dancing, casino gaming, magic and a silent auction.

Heritage advocates for smart growth in San Francisco through the protection and reuse of historic structures and landscapes. Acknowledging the symbiosis between cultural and material sustainability, Heritage collaborates with local, state and national partners on education, neighborhood outreach and public testimony to help preserve the built environment that defines the city. In honor of these efforts, Soirée 2013 will be held at the newly-restored San Francisco Maritime Museum (900 Beach Street), the Streamline Modern e jewel of San Francisco’s Aquatic Park National Historic Landmark District.

Inspired by the era of 1940’s glamour, Soirée 2013 will begin with a cocktail reception featuring a signature martini from historic San Francisco bar The Pied Piper, which is located in the beloved Palace Hotel. A miniature replica of The Pied Piper’s recognizable mural and bar will be showcased as well. The Pied Piper was recently named in the first round of 25 establishments in Heritage’s “Legacy Bars and Restaurants,” a new online educational initiative that invites users to experience the history of San Francisco’s most legendary eateries, watering holes, dives and haunts.

Guests will enjoy an exquisite dinner prepared by McCalls, featuring menu items such as Vichyssoise and Braised Wild Boar Bourguignon. A silent auction will allow attendees to bid on an array of unique items, including original stamped zinc frieze panels from the Hallidie Building, a behind-the-scenes culinary tour with Avital Unger of Avital Tours and a dinner for eight at the legendary Palace Hotel hosted by Executive Chef Jesse Llapitan.
Last year’s Soirée was attended by more than 400 guests, including Supervisors David Chiu and Scott Weiner, which celebrated the Central Market district at the Western Merchandise Mart. Soirée 2012 raised more than $33,000 for Heritage, with attendees contributing $2,600 to DiscoverSF! Summer Camp in Heritage Conservation and $1,600 to Heritage Hikes. With continued support from San Francisco’s vibrant business community and the introduction of its “Legacy Bars and Restaurants” initiative, Heritage expects Soirée 2013 to be an even greater success.

Tickets to Soirée 2013 are available in gradational levels, beginning with $350 per person and culminating with premium tickets at $7,500 for a table of 12 guests which includes special benefits. For more information and to purchase tickets visit http://www.sfheritage.com or call 415-441-3000 x14.
