Ringo Deathstarr: Ringo Deathstarr is an irresistible band from the paradise of Austin, TX -- and they have a little something for everyone. Punks, shoegazers, indie elitists, and all around music lovers can agree that this well-named trio rules. It's hard to hate on clever wordplay and good looking young musicians who have the gall to name their new album "God's Dream." The band was formed by singer/songwriter/Texan Elliott Frazier nearly ten years ago, and has traversed the musical highway ever since -- playing far flung gigs across the globe and landing a sweet opening spot for Smashing Pumpkins at SXSW. Fuzzy guitar sounds (that Jesus and Mary Chain would be proud of) mix with sultry, warm vocals, and a shoegaze-worthy drone to fill the stage with sound that washes over the audience. Distortion is a big player in Ringo Deathstarr, along with heady effects, a few ethereal moments, and plenty of moody lighting. All to create that perfect blend of pop music disguised as lonesome, brooding shoegaze. Bass lines and sweet bangs swirl together to create a superwoman in bassist Alex, who lends melody to the sometimes-dark and always noisy band. These kids don't mind turning up the volume, so a pair of earplugs might come in handy for those less inclined to accept the gift of ringing ears for the next 24 hours.
