About

Fluent with many types of digital media from his background in Music Technology and software engineering, Rich took a serious interest in digital photography and in 2005 bought a DSLR and began teaching himself the basics, at first relying on friends, books, and what he could learn from the Internet. Photography soon transformed from a ‘serious interest’ into a full blown passion and over the next several years he refined his camera and lighting skills shooting models and friends and eventually began taking paid assignments and teaching workshops.

Possessing an unapologetic appreciation for feminine beauty, he began studying the work of western photographers such as Guido Argentini, Russell James, Stefan May, Frank de Mulder, Ellen von Unwerth, Patrick Demarchelier, and Helmut Newton as well as erotic photographers from Asia, Rich began developing his own style of lighting and composition which was a combination of glamor, erotic, art, and fashion. From Fall 2012 until Spring 2014 Rich served as Editor in Chief of VOLO, helping transform it into the popular international art photography magazine it is today.


He started shooting fashion shows in 2010 and in the following years found himself at the end of runways at fashion weeks in New York, Hong Kong, Paris, London, and LA. In 2013 he partnered with designer MIMI Tran as COO lending his experience in fashion and technology to help her build her brand from the bottom up. He was not only responsible for all of the photography but also the branding, graphic design (including the MIMI Tran logo), produced all of the look books, catalogs, line sheets, ads, marketing and social media materials, managed the finances and bookkeeping and had many other roles. In early 2017 Rich left his position at MIMI Tran as well as a lucrative position at Google in order to focus on developing his photography business full time.
