Market Street Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings and mixed-media pieces by Priyanka Gupta.Gupta is an emerging Bay-Area artist whose bold works of richly-saturated color document her artistic journey of discovery of her own cultural heritage as well as her experiences of living in the western world.
Her origins are from the city of Kolkata, India, known as the �City of Joy� for the passionate manner in which the inhabitants live their lives. This joy is again reflected in the bright colors found in her abstract compositions that also reference traditional Indian motifs such as Mehendi design and the spiral.
Her manner of painting is spontaneous and direct, applying paints rapidly with force in order to bring forth her own deep feelings and emotions and to express inner spiritual truths that lie beyond the immediate nature of the materialistic world.
