Description

"Port rose from Los Angeles in the early months of 2005 shortly after singer/songwriter Drew Brandmeier completed his solo album, These Things Happen. Having explored the possibilities of a solo project, his interest turned towards forming a full band. The quartet that followed is Drew (guitar and lead vocals), Mike Medeiros (drums and vocals), Patrick Nally (bass and vocals), and Zach Miller (lead guitar).

Before Port materialized, the individual members of the group had been immersed in their respective musical endeavors. The idea for the band really gained momentum when Drew and Pat became friends while Drew was working on his solo project and Pat was playing with local L.A. rock band, Wet Brain. Upon hearing Drew's solo work, Pat became interested in Drew's unique approach music. They jammed together and decided it was time to form a band. Their next step was to find a drummer. Their prayers were answered in the form of Mike Medeiros of the bands Jaffe and Genica. After just a few sessions, the boys realized that they had stumbled onto a great collaboration. For a gig in San Clemente, CA, the trio asked local session guitarist and mutual friend Zach Miller to sit in with them. Without any rehearsal, Zach complimented the music as if he had been in the band from the start. From that moment forward, Port would be a quartet.

For the last 2 years Port has been cutting their teeth at local L.A. landmarks such as The Key Club, The Joint, The Viper Room, Harbor Drive, Sangria, Patrick Malloy's, Highland Grounds, and The Whisky, and has made "mini-tours" of establishments up and down the coast of California from San Diego to San Francisco. In the spring and summer of 2006, Port became the band of choice for the beach volleyball community and performed for thousands of spectators at all the Southern California AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournaments. Now, in the summer of 2007, Port has just finished the recording of their first full length album; 12 songs recorded live over a 6 day period at Clear Lake Audio in Burbank, CA

Port is categorized as a band with an eclectic style ranging from funky, jazz based rhythm and blues to an Americana style of folk and rock. The band consistently keeps their audience captivated with new originals, covers, acoustic shows, and guest musicians.

Comprised of four perfectionists that continually push the limits of their musical expertise, Port is not looking for a finish line; rather, they seek an ongoing musical experience that can be enjoyed by all." - bio from Myspace
