San Jose Police Foundation |
About | Press Releases |
The San Jose Police Foundation was formed by people committed to maintaining San Jose's reputation as the safest big city in the U.S. As people who live and work in San Jose and the surrounding area, we understand that city resources are limited and that public safety is the responsibility of all of us. That's why we formed the San Jose Police Foundation. Together, we have the ideas, the energy and the networks to help the San Jose Police Department get the funding, assistance and resources needed to keep San Jose a great place to live, work and play.
To enhance the public safety for those who live, work and visit San Jose by providing resources and support to the San Jose Police Department which are not included in the City budget or are not readily available by other means.
San Jose has been designated the "Safest Big City in America" but that does not mean we are free of crime and domestic violence. Our vision of a truly safe and secure city has not been realized.
It will take the community working together to establish truly trusting and collaborative initiatives. And, it will take additional resources of time, talent and monies to accomplish the harder work to make it happen.
That's where the San Jose Police Foundation comes in. Newly formed in 2006, the Foundation was recommended by Chief Rob Davis, and the effort to make the Foundation a reality was completed by Lt. Scott Cornfield when IRS 501( c ) (3) status was granted late summer 2006. Their fundraising efforts have just begun.
Chief Rob Davis speaks to us all--"I would like to share with you the fact that even though our local community and California may be going through some tough economic times, we at the San Jose Police Department are committed to ensuring that we provide you with the best police services possible. Indeed, we recognize that we have become the Safest Big City in America because of the collaborative, trusting relationship we have established with the many diverse communities and cultures that make up this great city of ours. We now turn to the San Jose Police Foundation and its donors to assist us in furthering these efforts."
