About
Founded in 1998, Playwrights Cafe is a theatre writing group that meets monthly at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Our meetings include reading scenes brought in by participants and constructive critique. We hire two professional actors to help us read.
Occasionally we have guest speakers drawn from the local theatre world. Our programs include several staged readings a year.
All are welcome to our meetings, regardless of experience. Our participants include both beginners and as well as writers with several productions. We are a supportive and friendly group. Cost of meetings is $10, to cover rental of space and snacks. We typically have about 15 people at the meetings. Details on our web site.
