I warrant that seeing Pete Escovedo free in the park is one of the essential San Jose experiences, like watching the Little Giants cream the Ports, like fighting a heatwave day with margaritas at Aqui, like watching the weird puppets gesticulating at you at Xmas time. This Pittsburg, CA-born legend, who rose to fame playing with Santana before going on to his own solo career, turned 75 last year, and recently got a small sampling of his musical clan - daughter Sheila E. and sons Juan and Peter Michael - together for an E Family album.
