Schwarzenegger Wants Wisconsin’s High Speed Rail Money

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote a letter to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood asking for Wisconsin’s high speed rail funding. Wisconsin governor-elect Scott Walker wants to use the $810 million allocated to the state for high speed rail redirected for road repairs, but LaHood has turned him down, saying that the money should go specifically for trains, even if they are in another state.

The money, raised from book fairs, a walkathon and other sources, was intended for school counselors and a handwriting programs for kindergarteners.
