Description
USA-UK theatre ensemble brings post-war trauma to the stage through the story of an American combat veteran struggling to reintegrate with society.Presented by London-based Theatre Témoin and Grafted Cede Theatre. Sponsored by WEST Performing Arts, the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County and the Santa Cruz Art League.
Turbulent storms and fantastical monsters stalk Grant at every port; what should be a joyous voyage—returning from his deployment in Afghanistan—becomes a nightmare more torturous than the war he has left behind.
International devising companies Grafted Cede and Theatre Témoin paint a dreamscape of post-war trauma in this highly physical piece about a man’s psychological battle to get “home.”
Nobody’s Home was developed in San Luis Obispo, California before premiering in the UK in May 2010. The piece garnered 4 and 5 star reviews while touring Sussex in September and October, and will be performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival after their residence in Santa Cruz. The touring company is trained in Lecoq pedagogy (actor-created physical theatre), and will be offering workshops and master classes in physical devising and applied theatre techniques.
Devised theatre (also called collaborative creation) is a form of theatre where the script originates not from a writer or writers, but from collaborative, usually improvisatory, work by a group of people.
