Description
Bessie award winning dancer and Bay Area native Gerald Casel presents the world premiere of Visiter, a new evening-length dance, with his newly reconstituted Santa Cruz-based dance company. Premiering at Motion Pacific during the National Dance Week Santa Cruz, this work for seven dancers continues Casel’s investigation into the use of random number generators to create original movement that emulate feeling disoriented and dislocated following years of moving around in search of community, purpose and home. This physically charged and thought-provoking work interrogates the notion of home by physically representing displacement through process, rendering, and metaphor. The dance asks, “do we reside in our bodies or does the mind allow the body to adapt to its environment? How do we navigate these porous boundaries?”
