Description
Missing Persons' music videos were staples on the nascent MTV of the 1980s, featuring lots of bright colors to compliment the catchy new wave tunes, and a scantily clad female singer (whose outfits were particularly bizarre). But oddly the group's roots go back to 1970s Frank Zappa. Husband and wife Terry (drummer) and Dale (singer) Bozzio met while part of Zappa's live and recording band for a handful of records, most notably Thing-Fish and the brilliant Joe's Garage. Missing Persons recorded their debut EP in 1980 at Zappa’s studio. Two years later they were signed to Capital Records, and for a period of time, everyone and their mother was singing "Walking in LA" and "Words." --Aaron Carnes
