Description

Stanford University's Cantor Arts Center explores 500 years of visual cultures and histories of Mami Wata, "Mother Water," through a diverse variety of traditional and contemporary arts surrounding her. Sculptures, paintings, masks, altars, and more from Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil and the United States will all be available for viewing. With over 100 works portraying Mami Wata, this exhibition reveals the widespread influence she has had in religious and artistic practices all around the world.

Admission is free. Every Thursday at 12:15pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm free tours of the exhibition are available.
