Harry SiterAn Avatar Collective
Artist Talk: Sat. February 28th, 4pm
LIMN gallery is pleased to present Harry Siter’s first solo with LIMN Art gallery. Siter is well known for his massive wood figurative sculptures, where the use of wood and cast bronze find balance.
Siter works with a chain saw and a few chisels to create the figures cut from bare tree trunks often measuring up to 9 feet in height. Siter carves until life is found. And so, personalities start to emerge and the bare tree trunk becomes “ The Janitor”, “ The Gardener”, or “Him”. The bronze castings are treated with more fluidity in form and follow the developmental path they must take to be rendered, ultimately joining the two materials to create new forms. By blending the two dynamics, Siter discovers new layers and theories as the two worlds meet. Suddenly new directions in thought and feeling emerge and in turn, they create a new physique.
