About
The Santa Cruz Skate Camp runs every year at Derby Skate Park. (508 Woodland Way
Santa Cruz, CA 95067). It runs from July 14-18. Kids ages 5-12 come out with their pads and helmets and have a ride of their life.
Students are taught the basics of skateboarding (how to push, ride ramps, and even some tricks). This is the second annual camp held at Derby Skate Park which is one of the oldest skate parks in the world, built in 1976. However, this is only the second year which a skateboard program has ever been held there.
The camp was put on by a partnership of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation and Go Skate Skateboard School (Goskate.com). The lead instructor was Rob Dunfey who is a professional teacher from Las Vegas.
