To read their work is to learn what it takes to live. Here are twelve such poets and writers.”

Frances Richard is the author of Anarch. (Futurepoem, 2012), The Phonemes (Les Figues Press, 2012) and See Through (Four Way Books, 2003). She writes frequently about contemporary art and is coauthor, with Jeffrey Kastner and Sina Najafi, of Odd Lots: Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark’s “Fake Estates” (Cabinet Books, 2005). Her writing on visual art has appeared in Artforum, Bookforum, The Nation, BOMB, and in many other publications, including exhibition catalogs from the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and Independent Curators International. Currently she teaches at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.

Ronaldo V. Wilson, Ph.D., is the author of Narrative of the Life of the Brown Boy and the White Man (University of Pittsburgh, 2008), winner of the 2007 Cave Canem Poetry Prize, and Poems of the Black Object (Futurepoem Books, 2009). Cofounder of the Black Took Collective, Wilson is also an assistant professor of poetry, fiction, and literature at UC Santa Cruz. Farther Traveler: Poetry, Prose, Other is forthcoming from Counterpath Press and Lucy 72 will be released by 1913 Press. He was a 2013 artist-in-residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts, and the 2014 artist-in-residence at the Center for Art and Thought (CA+T).
