"Bad Here Day" is the fourth and final installation Fog Beast’s three year long Here Series. The Here Series, initiated in an artistic residency at Shawl Anderson Dance Center, takes a humorous and heartfelt look at our ability or inability to be “here” in body, in attention and in community. The final chapter of this exploration, Bad Here Day ruminates on the loss of habitat, a loss of attention and a loss of empathy in our distracted and hyper informed world. Six performers sing and dance in the freedom of a culture sped up by technological advancement, intermittently mourning at a funeral service for the death of the un-stimulated moment. "Bad Here Day" will engage audiences with casual rituals, somber songs, speed dances and memorials to short lived trends.

Fog Beast is a live art organization directed by Andrew Ward and Melecio Estrella. For the past 4 years Estrella and Ward have created a variety of dance based works in collaboration with high school students, university students, and professional artists. They have both refined their craft in years of collaboration as performers in Joe Goode Performance Group, Scott Wells and Dancers, and Bandaloop. Site-specific installation, integration of voice and text, and athletic dancing have been regular ingredients in their work. Fog Beast explores the modern trappings of the human animal with humor and spontaneity.
