I do psychotherapy, with individuals, couples and older teens. I treat perpetrators and recipients of domestic violence; adults who were abused, neglected, or molested as children; and men on men's issues such as numbing, avoidance of intimacy, excess work, survival after a breakup, self-care, self-management, and being a good enough dad.  I don't give advice. I don't tell people what to do. I ask people to be curious about how their problem behaviors may serve some unrecognized purpose in their inner lives or in their relationships. I support self-observation, awareness of blocked emotions and acknowledgement of old, unhelpful behavior patterns.  I invite people to tolerate strong emotions and effectively calm and soothe one’s self without acting out destructively.  I encourage building an attitude of curiosity, respect and compassion toward one's self.
