Description
There seems to be no end in sight for how much San Franciscan piano-pop songwriter Debbie Neigher wants to push her comfort level. At 22, she relocated from New Jersey to SF without even knowing anyone there. When it came time to record her moody, harmony-rich, Tori-Amos-meets-St. Vincent-meets-Fiona-Apple album Unravel, she went big and convinced indie heavy-hitter John Vanderslice to produce it (who convinced some big local players to back her). Most importantly, her music digs past the superficial, and is both extremely vulnerable and confident at once, discussing emotional topics like Neigher's move out West, losing a childhood friend and even a sexual assault she survived.
