Description
Tradition meets modernity in this program featuring a signature work by a legendary American and a contemporary work by a young British newcomer. Dances at a Gathering is one of Jerome Robbins’ most iconic works: a sophisticated suite for ten dancers, set to solo piano music by Frédéric Chopin. The second half of the program features the return of Hummingbird by Liam Scarlett, which made its debut during the 2014 Repertory Season. At age 27, Scarlett is one of the world’s most promising young choreographers; he currently serves as artist in residence at The Royal Ballet, a position created specifically for him.
