Description
The Mexican Heritage and Mariachi Festival wraps up today with the "Concerts for the American Dream at the Outdoor Feria." Headliners Los Lobos are living that dream; the band that once asked "will the wolf survive" have gone on to define the Latino identity in rock and roll. They do this partly by appearing not to do it at all - from their three-chords-and-a-prayer early days to their art-rock masterpiece Kiko to the bluesy The Town and the City, they have demanded to be accepted on their own terms, without a thought as to what a Chicano-identified rock band is "supposed" to sound like. However, that identity has always been a part of their music. They'll reconvene in the South Bay to cap this day of music, food and community events. Intocable, Los Tex Maniacs, Ozomatli and Mariachi Azteca also perform. - Steve Palopoli sanjose.comMore Info
