Central Works Theater Ensemble is committed to the collaborative development of original works for the theater. We write, develop, and produce plays. Our focal point is originality: original ideas, original conceptions, original plays. We bring theater artists together as partners in the creation and development of intellectually and emotionally demanding works, while offering the local community daring, intimate productions at affordable prices. With sliding scales of $8-$20 and "pay what you can" performances, we offer challenging, professional productions of new works for as little or less than the price of a movie. Now in its fourteenth season in the Bay Area, Central Works was formed in the fall of 1990 and received its nonprofit status in 1993. Since our founding, Central Works' primary focus has been on new and original works.
