Between performing at President Obama’s inauguration and playing a set at the Super Bowl, it’s been a busy few months for Bruce Springsteen. And don’t forget his recently released 24th album, Working on a Dream, which has done exceedingly well both in sales and critical review. But life wasn’t always a dream for the 59-year-old rock icon; in fact, there was a time when life on tour (for 10 years, no less) yielded little in the way of national recognition. Now, he has ascended to the upper reaches of the pantheon.
