Big Sur International Marathon Events

Big Sur Marathon is a non-profit organization that is supported by local community and provides world-class events that raise money for local charities and promote healty living lifestyle and practices for youth.  Their four events annually raise funds for much needed charity causes and raise awareness of the connection between sports and healthly lifestyles. 
The events are:

The Mud Run held on March 28th at the Calfornia State University at Monterey Bay and is sponsored by the U.S. Army in Monterey and CSUMB.

The Big Sur International Marathon is held April 26th on the beautiful coastline of Big Sur and Carmel and is run on Highway One overlooking the cliffs and ocean and is attended by world-class marathon runners and local alike.

The JUST RUN event is held April 25th and is also their program designed to assist schools and other youth organizations in the promotion of fitness and healthy lifestyle choices while combating childhood obesity and its related illnesses. 
The program offers incentives and benefits and information and is a bilingual fun program geared to 2nd to 8th grades and is available to high schools.

Ths model program has won awards and offers best practices and is affordable and effecitve in youth fitness and can be implemented in any region of the US.

Official sponsors of the program are City of Monterey, Governors Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Communty Hospital of Monterey, Salinas Valley Memoral Healthcare System, Childrens Miracle Networks, Granite construction and Active.com.

The Big Sur Half Marathon is held in November and around the beautiful Monterey Bay from downtown to Pacific Grove and down along the coastline to Cannery Row ending at the historical Custom House in old Monterey.
