Description
On the heels of the Stock Market Crash in 1929, which triggered the Great Depression, newly-elected President Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced the New Deal. While much of the art if the New Deal era did not reflect the economics or politics of the times, three areas of artistic expression--photographs, prints, and murals--commented directly on the struggles and hopes of the people. The images included in this show speak to the hardships of the times, but they also remind us on why those policies were implemented and why they mattered. This exhibition is guest curated by Art Hazelwood.
