About
Wanted: 1-2 congenial people who are serious about their writing and would like to join our ongoing biweekly writing group.
You are:
Age: Baby Boomer. Midlife and beyond. Mature.
Your writing: Not necessarily your primary gig, but it is a serious practice. You have probably had some work published.
Currently working on: A serious book-length project.
Genre: Serious nonfiction or memoir. (But we've all tried our hands at other things. We are open minded!)
Other: Interest in music a plus.
We are:
Two men and two women who have been sharing our writing for the past six-plus years. We've each had at least one nonfiction book published by a university press or similar small, independent publisher.
Our books include: A George Gershwin biography; a feminist analysis of the early 20th century "white slavery" scare; a psychologist's Cajun music memoir, a self-help book by an attorney about separating truth from spin.
Current projects: an antiwar book; health policy and invisible disabilities; a biography of a Gershwin-era composer; family history, ethnic roots, and food as a path to understanding.
We meet every other Monday evening at a home near the North Berkeley BART. We exchange work in advance and try to offer supportive, constructive feedback.
If you are interested, please get in touch!
