BART-to-San Jose plan on track

Plans to bring BART to downtown San Jose are still moving forward, despite economic shifts and bureaucratic shortfalls, according to a report in today’s San Jose - Silcion Valley Business Journal.

Carl Guardino, president and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and BART’s biggest local backer, will join several local leaders this Friday to help the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority cremonially break ground on the project. San Jose City Councilman Sam Liccardo, a member of the VTA board of directors, and VTA general manager Michael Burns will be in Milpitas for the event.

“VTA officials have said recently they will have to build the $6 billion Warm Springs-to-Santa Clara line in stages instead of all at one time because of the poor economy and looming agency budget deficits,” the BizJournal reports.
