While other marijuana collectives have had fires in the past, they were usually the result of faulty wiring indoors. In order to determine whether the fire was, in fact, arson, investigators are now searching for traces of accelerant at the scene.

Police have provided a motive and named three out of four suspects in the Mexicali Club triple homicide. Two suspects were killed in the gunfight, while the third victim attempted to stop them. The third suspect and a getaway driver are believed to have fled south toward the Mexican border.

4.5 Earthquake Strikes Monterey County

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck 45 miles southeast of San Jose in Monterey County early this morning. It was the second earthquake in less than a week to hit the region. On Saturday, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred east of San Jose. There was no reported damage or injury from this morning’s quake.

City Councilman Pierluigi Oliverio wants performance, not seniority, to determine who the city lays off. He argues that eager young employees are being lost to cuts, while older, higher-salaried workers end up keeping their jobs regardless of their performance. The Mexican American Community Services Agency is suing former CEO Olivia Soza Mendiola and former CFO Benjamin F. Tan, along with accountant Joe Clovis, for financial negligence. In its suit, MACSA indicated that several other high ranking staff members could also be sued for financial improprieties. One possibility is former COO Xavier Campos, who has since been elected to City Council.

Although the store promised to give it to her if it remained unclaimed for 30 days, they later told her that store policy regarding large sums that are found is to add them to petty cash. Courts Catch Up with Tow Truck Driver

The courts have finally caught up with a tow truck driver who charged people for towing and storing cars they did not own. Over the years, Vincent Cardinalli and his family were able to amass over $1 million for the scam, by successfully suing the victims in Small Claims Court. He pleaded no contest to 99 counts of fraud, and was sentenced to 14 years.
