The magazine explained its decision, saying that Facebook is “transforming the way we live our lives every day. It’s social engineering, changing the way we relate to each other.”

A Blimp Comes to Ames

A Blimp Comes to Ames

NASA Ames Airfield will soon be home to the world’s largest blimp, the 235-foot-long, 65-feet-in-diameter Bullet Class 580, manufactured by E-Green Technologies.The ultra-modern blimp has more room for helium in its compartments, making it able to reach altitudes of 22,000 feet, far more than the standard blimps, which rise to 4,000-5,000 feet.

City Getting Closer to Cambrian 36 Deal

San Jose took another step forward toward annexing Cambrian 36 on Tuesday. City Council voted unanimously to move ahead with the planned annexation, it agreed to postpone the matter for six months so that it can review an alternative offer made by Campbell to the city. The offer would likely include the exchange of lands between San Jose and Campbell, though Vice Mayor Judy Chirco says that any deal would be “revenue neutral” to San Jose.

Mark Zuckerberg was one of seventeen superrich individuals to sign on to the Giving Pledge, a campaign launched by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to get the very wealthy to pledge to give at least half of their wealth to charity. Also representing Facebook by signing the Pledge was Dustin Moskovitz, his Harvard roommate and Facebook cofounder.
