About
Set in a working arts warehouse right in the heart of the historic Oakland, Art Beat Writers' Society is a weekly two and a half hour writing and performance workshop designed to generate new material, workshop pieces, focus on live performance, and create a rich and sustainable community of East Bay writers.
Society members are guided through a series of writing improvisations created to inspire new ideas in a setting ripe with creativity and ambiance. Society members will write, workshop materials, and practice/perform/critique live reading performances all in a warm, supportive, and beautiful environment.
