Description

Aftermodern is pleased to present From Paper to Paint, a solo exhibition of original works by Antonio Sindorf, who explores a complex symbiosis between painting and drawing through a dynamic palette of visual elements that can be experienced as both narrative and provocation. The exhibition opens on November 7, 2007 and runs through December 2007. An artist's opening reception will be held on Friday, November 9 from 6 - 9 pm.

Sindorf, who works in San Francisco, derives inspiration for his art from many sources including Greek mythology, biblical and modern apocalyptic themes, sexuality, humor, parody and social commentary. Many of his drawings stand as studies for his oil paintings, while others project as autonomous explorations in their own right. His paintings often contain different voices and patterns that echo each other while also reversing thematic material.

Sindorf was born in the Midwest, but he also spent formative years in Spain and the Colorado Rockies, among other places. He obtained his BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and also studied Fresco Painting at Parsons School Design in New York. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States.
