Description
O’Hanlon Center for the Arts is proud to announce a very special evening with Marin-based, internationally celebrated dance innovator Anna Halprin on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. The program will benefit O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, and will feature an interview of Anna Halprin by her long-term student and OHCA member Dr. Richard Brown. Guests will also be treated to a score by Tamalpa Institute dancers. The Tamalpa Institute is a non-profit founded by Anna Halprin and her daughter Daria Halprin.Refreshments will be provided immediately prior to the program beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction that night with wonderful locally-made items, and Books, DVDs, and signed posters will be available for sale.
To complement the event, the O’Hanlon Gallery will feature “Into the Flow,” an exhibit juried by renowned dancer and choreographer June Watanabe with artwork evoking fluidity, kinetics, and action during the month of November. June is famous for translating Japanese Nō Opera for contemporary audiences and imbuing it with social and political meaning.

In addition to the November 11, 2010 fundraiser, O’Hanlon Center for the Arts has scheduled these related programs in November:
Painting As Dance: Under the Influence of Anna Halprin with TAIRA RESTAR. Sunday, Nov. 14. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. $50, $40 OHCA members. $10 materials fee.
Breath Made Visible: Film and Movement Workshop with TAIRA RESTAR. Saturday, November 20. 3 to 7 p.m. $50, $40 OHCA members.
Taira Restar is a faculty member of Tamalpa Institute. Anna Halprin says about her: “After years of being a student and then an apprentice, I now consider Taira a colleague and a friend. She has fully embodied the Halprin approach and has made it her own. …Taira Restar is multi-talented and a gifted educator.”
