Broadway San Jose presents one of the most beloved musicals of all time, The Sound of Music. The local stage company plans to bring a touring production of the acclaimed Rogers and Hammerstein musical to San Jose in November.
For years the enchanting story of the Trapp family has found its way into the hearts of people young and old. Three years ago, NBC aired a highly successful live broadcast of the story, featuring Carrie Underwood in the lead role.
The new touring production features a talented cast, led by budding star Kerstin Anderson, a student at Pace University who has received many positive reviews for her role as Maria Rainer. Director and three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien had this to say about her audition:
“She opened her mouth, she sang, and the tears welled up in my eyes….If ever there were an enchanting young woman standing on the brink of discovery — this was it! And now, the discovery is about to be all of ours!”
The Sound of Music comes to the Center for Performing Arts from Nov. 8-13. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster or in person at the City National Civic Box Office, and by calling 800-982-(ARTS) 2787. Tickets go on sale September 1.
