Since its inception in 2003, Cavalia has captivated worldwide audiences with graceful equestrian performances. This year, Cavalia brings their latest spectacle, Odysseo, to San Jose for the first time. Featuring 65 horses performing alongside 48 riders, acrobats and musicians, Odysseo celebrates the special connection that horses and have shared for millennia.
The $30 million production promises to transport audiences to a fantastical world—telling the story of how horses and humanity formed their sacred bond. Using 18 HD projectors, the set designers of Odysseo will create lush, natural backdrops on a massive screen that dwarfs even the world’s largest cinema screens. During the finale, 80,000 pounds of water flood the stage as horses gallop about in what organizers say is the largest big-top tent in the world; it covers the area of a football field and reaches a height of 125 feet.
Odysseo has been touring the world since 2011 and has been seen by some 1.5 million audience members. Behind all of its splendor and elaborate production, Odysseo aims to “feed the soul.” Organizers hope that the peaceful interaction between horses and humans will give audiences a glimpse of a more harmonious world.
Odysseo’s Silicon Valley debut runs from Sept. 14 through Oct. 2. Tickets range between $29.50 and $154.50. VIP packages are also available and include special seating, a buffet dinner before the event and the opportunity to meet the horses backstage.
