Monday:
J. Lohr Tour of California
Conveniently located off The Alameda in the Rosegarden neighborhood, the J. Lohr wine center in San Jose offers tastings of wines from their Monterey, Paso Robles and St. Helena vineyards. Drop in Monday evening and discover why Wine Enthusiast Magazine named J. Lohr the 2010 American Winery of the Year.

Tuesday:
Wayne Pacelle
Everybody loves an underdog. As president of the Humane Society, Wayne Pacelle fights for the underdogs (and undercats) on a daily basis. His first book, The Bond: Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them, describes his animal-loving philosophy. Pacelle will be at the San Jose Animal Care Center on Tuesday evening to discuss his book and the current issues and challenges facing the Humane Society.

Wednesday:
The Princess Bride
In this week’s edition of outdoor family movies at San Pedro Square, Rob Reiner’s classic comedy stars a young Robin Wright and an even younger Fred Savage. Christopher Guest, Billy Crystal and Andre the Giant also make appearances but it’s Cary Elwes’s sardonic portrayal of the whimsical hero that bolsters the film into the canon of ‘80s classics.

Thursday:
White Album Ensemble
Take a break from unlocking songs in Beatles: Rock Band and go see the real thing. Well, almost the real thing. White Album Ensemble, the acclaimed Beatles tribute band from Santa Cruz, performs two hours worth of the Beatles’ greatest hits at Music in the Park on Thursday.

Friday:
Viviana Guzman and Jeremy Jouve
It’s probably a safe bet to say that Viviana Guzman and Jeremy Jouve are the best Chilean flautist and French guitarist duo in the world today. It helps that Guzman won the 1991 Young Artists International and Jouve won the 2003 International Guitar Competition. Courtesy of the South Bay Guitar Society, they’re putting on a few special and intimate performances this week in San Jose before heading up to Marin to record an album at Skywalker Sound.
