The holidays are over and people are rushing to the stores to exchange their gifts and redeem their gift cards. The SWAT team in Santa Clara County can pull up to the mall in their brand new BearCat, a multipurpose military vehicle, said to be good enough for “just about anything.”  The new vehicle, costing $285,000, was purchased with a grant from the Department of Homeland Security, and will be available for a variety of intense police actions across Santa Clara County.  When it’s not in use, the tactical armored vehicle will be parked at the police station in Gilroy. That should be most of the time. When you see it in the street, you know that there is trouble up ahead.
