Almost twenty years ago, in February 1991, Julie Bucalo’s corpse was found in a San Jose cottage. There is finally some sense of closure to the case. The charges are based on DNA extracted from the victim’s clothing and from her fingernails, which indicates that she was involved in a struggle with Baldenegro.

Baldenegro, 60, is currently in San Quentin, where he faces a 94 year sentence for 12 felonies and a misdemeanor. He was sentenced in 2009 for events relating to the abduction of his son, which include sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, battery of the boy’s mother, and auto theft. He may soon have to add murder to his long list of convictions.
