‘Bay for Gulf’ Fundraiser Gala
3-6pm Oct. 24 Madera Restaurant, 2825 Sand Hill Rd., Menlo Park
The Gulf of Mexico BP oil spill may be out of the headlines, but for residents of the Gulf Coast, the devastation wrought by the disaster is still with them. For many fishermen, their way of life is over. Guillaume Bienaime, executive chef of Marché in Menlo Park, has spearheaded a fundraising dinner Oct. 24 aimed at supporting the restoration of the Gulf of Mexico and wetlands along the southern U.S. coast. He has teamed up with several top restaurants and winemakers for a one-of-a-kind event at Menlo Park’s Madera restaurant. Proceeds will go to the Save Our Gulf fund of the Waterkeeper Alliance to support the seven Waterkeeper organizations of the Gulf Coast. Tickets are $150.

Epicurian Food and Wine Pairing Adventure
6:30pm Oct.27, Chef Chu’s, 1067 North San Antonio Road, Los Altos
This eight-course dinner will feature several of Chef Chu’s signature dishes, plus other dishes developed especially for this event. Christine Tran, Artisan Wine Depot’s Certified Sommelier, has selected the perfect wines for this menu and will be describing the pairing principles for each dish. Chef Chu will also be on site to describe each dish and to sign his cookbook “Celebrating Your Place at Our Table.”
