Hammer Theater presents a live screening of the award-winning film War Horse, broadcast from the 2014 performance from its home of New London Theater as part of National Theater live. War Horse will show on Dec. 29 at 7pm.

War Horse is the captivating story of Albert, a young boy, and his horse, Joey, who is drafted to fight for the British in World War I as well as the trenches of France. The twist is when Joey is captured by the enemy and forced to fight on both sides creating quite the conflict before he ends up in No Man’s Land in the rural lands of Devon. With all of this, Albert, who is too young to enlist, is pushed into a journey to find his horse and bring him home.

Whether it’s for a date night, night out with friends or the family, War Horse’s story of courage, strength and friendship is an enticing and engaging one as the two fight different battles ultimately toward one another. This high-definition screening features the live play with the puppetry of South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company bringing the power and strength of the galloping horses to life. This intense and thrilling theatrical performance is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford with strong music and songs.

War Horse has claimed global recognition since its first performance in 2007 and now is played before audiences live and through screenings.
