Creative Convergence Silicon Valley (C2SV), returns to San Jose for two days in October with a celebration of cutting-edge technology and music.

With an emphasis on emerging technologies and musicians, the central hub of C2SV on Oct. 8-9 will be in  San Jose’s SoFA District. The technology program will feature several notable speakers in California Theatre, the same venue where Apple co-founder Steve Jobs famously took the stage with U2 in 2004 for a special iPod announcement. On the schedule this year:

• Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times science and technology writer John Markoff will talk about his new book “Machines of Loving Grace: The Quest for Common Ground Between Humans and Robots”
• Markoff will also interview software pioneer Philippe Kahn, who invented the cameraphone
• Jane McGonigal will speak on harnessing the power of games to solve global problems
• City of San Francisco CIO Miguel Gamiño Jr. will talk about how local governments are using technology to become more efficient, effective and transparent
• Entrepreneur Brienne Ghafourifar is one of the youngest people to ever to do a $1 million capital raise. She’ll discuss how her new venture, Entefy, is going.
• Todd Weaver will share his thoughts on reinventing personal computing with privacy as its primary objective.

The technology conference will also feature five of the biggest names in digital media and marketing:

• Brian Fanz, Livestreaming expert and voice of the millenials
Bryan Kramer: Author of the business best seller, “Shareology”
• Jeremiah Owyang: Collaborative economy expert
• Michael Brito: Leader in personal branding and social marketing
• Robert Scoble: Digital journalist followed by millions

Following the technology conference, more than 35 touring performers and local favorites will perform each night at several downtown San Jose venues. Highlights include “post-millennial” rockers Together Pangea, indie dream pop from Babes, and San Jose native Anya Kvitka, who recently departed to Los Angeles after signing a recording deal with Plug Research.
