Palmieri brings more than 50 years of Latin jazz experience to San Jose, while the 20-piece Brazilian band Letieres Leite & Orkestra Rumbilezz brings the rhythms of Bahia to the main stage. New York-based Trumpeter Etienne Charles, who most recently released his album Creole Soul, will debut his “San Jose Suite” at the festival.

While an emphasis on Latin jazz remains, the lineup thus far is missing pop music acts, such at Bootsy Collins (2014), Lyrics Born (2013) and Morris Day & The Time (2012). Perhaps, marking a shift for festival organizers.

Early-bird tickets for the festival, Aug. 7-9, are available through May 6, ranging from $45 to $300 for VIP tickets. More info at the official festival website.
